Conditions of sale for used & antiquarian books

All our books are available through AbeBooks.co.uk.

Orders can be accepted by letter, email, telephone or order form attached to this web site, or from orders placed via AbeBooks.

Payment is requested with the order ( If using PayPal, please first get confirmation that the
book is available and reserved for you ). 

We accept payment by Sterling cheque. We will dispatch the books once the cheque has been cleared.

We accept PayPal payments with funds transferred via the PayPal website to books@deightons.com.

You do not need to have a PayPal account to use PayPal, you can use the PayPal website as a guest.

We no longer accept credit or debit cards direct, and there is no longer a direct PayPal button on our website.

If you do want to pay by direct bank transfer, please email for our account details.

Postage is charged extra, about £4 for UK and about £25 for overseas.  We prefer to use Royal Mail Tracked 48 (hours) in the UK and 
Royal Mail International Tracked for overseas.   

If you order through AbeBooks, the postage cost will be added automatically.

In general, we do not send books on approval, packing just takes too long !

We wrap our books very carefully, and have received numerous accolades over the years in this respect.

Condition is described as accurately as possible, 
but if you are dissatisfied, the book may be returned within ten days of receipt.

Of course we accept unwanted books back, provided they are still in the condition in which they were sent -
someone else will buy and cherish that book for sure !

The condition of our books is often a pleasant surprise since we tend to veer on the harsher side when describing their faults, if any.

Orders are usually processed within two or three working days, depending on the flow of orders.

All customer details are held in strictest confidence.
